Conference Objectives

The INFER Annual Conference provides an opportunity for everybody interested in economics to exchange ideas. Researchers, especially young researchers, are invited to submit theoretical and applied papers across all areas of economics, including this year’s special topic “Monetary and Economic Integration in Europe”.

Researchers are also encouraged to organise their own sessions either under this year’s special topic or a topic of their own choosing. Keynote speakers will be invited to speak on this year’s special topic.

Keynote Speakers


The conference is open to anybody involved in economics and finance issues, including both young and experienced researchers, post-doctoral students, and professionals from business, government and non-governmental institutions.

Submission of Papers

The deadline for the submission of papers was May 2nd, 2007.

All papers will be peer reviewed. Authors of accepted papers will be notified no later than June 30, 2007.
Paper presenters are expected to discuss one other paper during the conference. The discussant assignments will be made by the conference committee at a later date.

Publication of Papers

A selection of papers presented at the conference will be published in one or more INFER volumes in due course after the workshop. For details of possible publication outlets use the link on publications.

Best Paper Award

A best paper award will be available for the best paper presented by a young economist under the age of 30. The award consists of €250 in cash and a book voucher worth €250.


To register for the Annual Conference, please fill in the registration form and mail or fax it to the INFER office address given on the form.

The registration fee is EUR 100.00 for private or institutional INFER members and EUR 250.00 for all others. (The annual fee for private members is EUR 25.00. Please, feel free to join and register as member.) The registration fee includes:

The INFER annual conference will be held at Loughborough University, Loughborough, UK, a lively town in the heart of the midlands between Nottingham and Leicester. Loughborough is very much characterised by its University: the UK’s major sports university. It has excellent sport and conference facilities, good restaurants and pubs and very nice surroundings. Getting to Loughborough is easy: either with a low cost airline to East Midlands airport or by train from London St. Pancras to Loughborough. If you are arriving at East Midlands airport, there is a direct bus service to Loughborough. For links to these low cost airlines and the train service see below.


Primarily we recommended accommodation provided by the University’s conference centre. Unfortunately this conference centre is booked out.
