The conference will be held at Tomas Bata University, Zlin, Czech Republic. Tomas Bata University in Zlín is a top-quality educational, scientific and research institution, characterized by its very fast development, openness to the world, emphasis put on science and research and cooperation with institutions and enterprises.

In the academic year 2006/07 about 10,158 students are studying at TBU. TBU was established on 1st January 2001 on the basis of the former Faculty of Technology, existing in Zlín since 1969 as a part of the Brno University of Technology and educating hundreds of specialists particularly for the rubber and plastics industries. The University was named after Tomas Bata (1876–1932), an ingenious entrepreneur and the founder of the shoemaking factory in Zlín, who became known all over the world.

The University’s main aim is to become an internationally acclaimed institution, producing confident, creative people with top-quality professional education, able to communicate with the world.

Zlin, the administrative center of the Zlin region, lies along the river Dřevnice in a mild climatic area of southeastern Moravia. It is also a crossroad for the ethnographic boundaries of the Wallachian, Hana and Moravian Slovak regions. This region of 590,000 inhabitants became famous for more reasons than its advantageous location. The city is the seat for several government centers, as well as for cultural and social institutions. Zlin holds many meaningful congresses, mainly in medical professions.

The nearest airport is in Brno (the distance from Zlin is about 100 km). There are two international scheduled flights London/Stansted – Brno and Munich – Brno. If you prefer to fly to Prague (Ruzyně) Airport, you can also use the scheduled flight Prague – Brno, to get to Brno.

The second possibility is the international Airport Vienna Swechat (the distance from Zlin is about 225 km).

A comfortable bus connection from Prague Airport to Brno and from Vienna Airport to Brno is provided by Student Agency Busses (phone for reservation: 00 420 224 999 666).

Accommodation charges are not included in the Conference Participation Fee. We recommend accommodation near the University´s Conference centre. Information about bookings for accommodation can be found at:

Further Information

Updated information concerning travel and accommodation and information on Zlin will be provided in due course on this page. The preliminary program will be posted here by mid October, 2007.
